About

At Acorn to Oak Nursery and Preschool, we are dedicated to creating a nurturing, stimulating and welcoming environment for all children. Our unique setting in Chessington allows us to incorporate a variety of educational theories, while always keeping every child's best interests in mind and allowing for hands-on, experiential and fun learning.

We particularly stand out with our 6 acres of dedicated outside playing space, allotment facilities & outdoor learning,  our own chef who cooks a range of healthy meals in our onsite kitchen, yoga, cooking with the children and music activities plus generous parking spaces. To find out more about us, keep reading or feel free to get in touch.

Ofsted Good Provider Report 2022:

What is it like to attend this early years setting?

'Children confidently enter the nursery. They settle in quickly with the help of their caring key person. Children feel happy and safe and enjoy taking part in a range of interesting activities. They are eager to learn new skills because staff have high expectations of them. Children are active and always ready for a new adventure. All children learn skills to help them with moves for their next stage in learning, including school. Children benefit from impressive learning opportunities outdoors. They master their physical skills and extend their understanding of the world during regular forestry sessions and visits to their allotment'

Stimulating Learning

What we can offer each child

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which is produced by the government to set standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old.

The areas of learning set out in the EYFS are: Communication and Language, Physical Development, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding of the World and Expressive Arts and Design.

6 Acres Outdoor Play

Unique facilities

We fully embrace outdoor play and elements of the Forest School ethos. All of our children spend a large amount of time outside every day, enjoying the benefits of being able to run around safely whilst learning at the same time. Our aim is to allow all children to develop a healthy ethos which will give them the opportunity to adopt this throughout their lives.

Healthy Eating

Healthy growth

We have our own nursery chef who prepares and cooks all the food in our onsite kitchen. We have our own allotment area where the children are able to plant seeds and grow their own foods. We encourage them to water and look after their plants and they are able to help prepare and cook the foods when they are ready. This teaches children about the importance of healthy eating and also how to make sensible balanced food choices, setting them up for a healthier future. See our sample menu here:
