Preschool

In preschool we have been using flash cards during our circle times to help develop language skills. By using flash cards, the children are learning simple CVC words e.g cat, mat and hat. We have also been using various equipment for mathematics to encourage the children to learn patterns, colours and numbers. The children have been using peg boards to enhance their fine motor skills, as well as counting how many pegs of a certain colour they have used.

Loose parts are used to encourage the children in free play to develop their imagination and express themselves through art and design. During this process nothing is right or wrong and anything goes!

The staff have also been looking at the curiosity approach which encourages children's natural curiosity and eagerness to explore!

2-3's Room

We have been very busy preparing for Christmas! We have painted a post-box and have spoken about what the children would like for Christmas. They wrote letters, practicing their mark making and developing their find motor skills. The children then posted their letters into our post-box. We have been learning the Christmas Pudding and

Santa Got Stuck Up the Chimney songs with all the actions too! Lastly we have incorporated Christmas into our Role Play area and have been buying presents and wrapping them up for our peers and family members.

Under 2s Room

In the under 2’s we have been getting into the Christmas spirit by making snowmen prints using

potatoes, working on our fine motor skills using paintbrushes to make our very own Christmas trees and using our finger prints to add baubles to our picture. We will be taking part in a cooking activity where we will make Gingerbread men as well! We will be mixing all the ingredients together and this will help us with our Gross Motor skills.

We will also be using cutters to help create our shapes. We have been exploring the allotments where we have been going on nature walks. We have been taking part in lots of rhyme time- this encourages the children’s speech and single words.

We are saying goodbye to two of our preschool teachers - Zuzanna and Wendy. They've been a great asset to our team and we wish them the very best. We'll miss you!

It's that time of year again! Today is the start of our collection for the Reverse Christmas Advent Calendar. We are collecting food for the Chelsea Pensioners. Everyday something will be added. If you have any non-perishable goods that you'd like to donate please bring it to the nursery prior to Friday the 17th of December.

Covid-19

We are updating our local policies regarding Covid-19 due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant across the UK. We are committed to keeping the children and staff under our care as safe as possible. Please contact a member of management should you have any questions or concerns. You will all be receiving an email soon that will detail any relevant changes.
