Under 2's
Playing with shaving foam!

The under 2's room has been exploring their world with excitement and wonder! Whether

it's engaging in messy play to encourage their minds to understand similarities and differences or experiencing the many different sensory activities available, they've

been having a ball! Heidi, our third in charge and room leader for the under 2's children, has been pairing children with their key person. Parents / carers will be contacted by their child's key person by next week. The permanent staff in the room are now: Izzy, Chloe, Lucy and Heidi with additional support staff where needed.

2-3's

The 2-3's have been dancing and singing during circle time when they first arrive to nursery while they meet new friends. Many of the activities encourage the children to explore different textures, identify objects and spot the differences between concepts such as hot

and cold. The children have enjoyed learning new songs and dancing once they learn the moves. The children also made colourful Chinese New Year lanterns while they learned about the holiday. Hayley is the room leader for 2-3's. The other permanent staff are:

Preschool's rocket!

Preschool

Preschool has had a fabulous month learning about outer space! The children helped build a rocket made out of cardboard boxes that they could stand inside of. Thank you for all of the boxes and buttons that were needed in order to make our rocket fly! The Lodge children also planted 5 fruit trees in the forestry school area that were given to the nursery after being

selected out of 1,000 other schools! The children will now have an opportunity to learn how trees grow from an early state and how to care for them. The Cabin has been working on self portraits learning about the human body. Next week they will be doing activities focused within the theme 'mini-me.'

After an exciting visit from the fire brigade, they will be focusing on 'People Who Help Us' such as first responders. We have new staff coming in next week to permanently work in preschool. Currently Rosie and Rebecca lead the teams within the Cabin and the Lodge alongside Monika and Adel. New staff will be introduced next week to all parents.

The Fire Brigade gave the children a visit to say hello this month!

Other News

Rebecca, our deputy manager, is leaving us next week to begin a career change. Rebecca has been with us since the Covid-19 pandemic and has worked through many difficult

situations with us during this time. We wish her the best in her new job! With that being said, we are welcoming a new deputy manager, Sam, who will be starting in February. Sam has years of experiencing in working with children as a practitioner and a supervisor.

We currently offer work placement positions for students who are studying to gain their childcare qualification. Similar to many professions, this experience arms students with real relevant knowledge under the supervision of qualified practitioners. This is normal for any setting. If you have any questions please contact management.

Welcome to Chloe, Kenzie and Freya who joined us as permanent staff members! If you don't recognise someone at the door, this may be one of them! They will introduce themselves to parents during their first week.

Key children will be introduced to their key person within a week. With new staff members starting, key children assignments are still being processed.

If you have a safeguarding concern, contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), Julie Green, at 07746118040. Our alternate DSL is Rebecca Jarvis who can be reached at 07862143958.
